It started a few weeks ago when I was in the local K-Mart and saw Ugg boot slippers on a rack and noticed how similar in shape to the Apollo Moon boot.<P>That got me thinking about doing some mods to create Moon boot slippers. This turned into several evenings in the garage, lots of rubber, glue and fiddling.<P>Anyway, they are pretty useless as slippers but loads of fun to make 'Lunar foot prints' at the beach!<P>That is my son taking them for a test EVA:<P><center><iframe width="400" height="225" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/HvKi8G05e8s?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen>

Hmm... I guess now anybody can own a pair and maybe use them in art and painting projects, like Al Bean does in his work, making impressions on the canvas with a lunar boot?

When I was a kid, I swear I saw a pair of boots at a sporting goods store that were actually called, "Moon boots," but I can't really say how accurate they were, other than I recall the tread looking somewhat similar to the A7 series suit overshoes...

They became popular in the 60s-70s, made by Tecnica and now available once again at this site Here is a site with some of the history.

Great job on boots. I'm currently recreating a replica of Buzz Aldrin's moon suit for a school project and was wondering what type of material you used for the simulated blue silicone on the boot?
